On Google+ and on Facebook authors and publishers could open business accounts for their brands / books. Not so on Pinterest as their rules forbade commercial usage. However the official rules of engagement changed now as Pinterest officially launched “Pinterest for Business“.
Pinterest product manager Cat Lee explained:
“If your organization is new to Pinterest, sign up on Pinterest for a business account. Existing accounts on Pinterest can be easily converted by following the steps on the business site. Signing up on our business site allows you to specify your business name (instead of first name and last name) and go through an optimized new user flow… Pinterest has also created a dedicated site for businesses, which contains best practices, case studies and documentation. The goal of providing this content is to “help businesses interact with people the right way.” See an info-graphic: The Astounding Power Of Pinterest
With “Pinterest for Business” you can:
- Get Traffic your way – With the ‘Pin it’ button on your website and each products page is a great way to drive traffic your way. Ensure that the buttons are around where they can be seen. Lots of marketing tips tips for using Pinterest and “How to Boost Your Business With Pinterest” can be found on Pinterest’s site.
- Tell your story – Brands can create an account, verify their website and start creating boards. With some awesome pins, they can get the engagement going with followers.
- Build a Community – One of the greatest ways of building a community is to have active participation of followers. According to Pinterest, it can be done with a pinning event, collaborating with other “pinners” or host a Pinterest giveaway and get some loyal fans.
Companies that already have a personal account on Pinterest will be able to convert it to a business account. The process to open an author / business account with Pinterest is very easy and really fast. Visit their sample sites to learn more. Use Pinterest’s buttons and widgets to make it easier for people to pin items from your site, see what you’re doing on Pinterest, and follow you or your boards.
