Also unbedingt lesen, eine echte Entdeckung!

Verlag:  111Publishing
Preis 2.99 Euro

How to Receive Endorsements for Your Book

You don’t need to be a familiar name or face to someone to request comments on your book – or on your business for that matter.  Ordinary people  have received blurbs from writer celebrities, politicians or church leaders .

Whether you’re self-publishing or publishing through a traditional publisher, it’s wise to jazz up your back book cover, web site and promotional material with endorsements – little quotes from authors and other prominent people whose opinions have weight.

Keep some basic principles in mind and to use courtesy in dealing with potential blurb writers, advises Marcia Yudkin in her blog “7 Keys to Getting Book Blurbs“.

Important ones are:  DON’T assume that the person will write a quote without seeing the whole book manuscript and be prepared to provide a printout of the whole manuscript. And … DO offer unsolicited endorsements yourself when the opportunity arises.

Take the cover of your e-book in several versions and sizes and load them up at the Flickr website.  Write lots! of good tags to describe these photos of your e-book. Flickr  allows you to up to 75 tags to each photo. Which means: 75 possibilities for people to find, and learn about your e-book.

Tags for e-book photos could be for sample: E-Reading, Kindle, Sony, Kobo, Nook, ereading, e-books, ebooks, ebook online, book cover, digital display, electronic book, information medium, publishing, reading, text, textbook, internet, author, technology, books, education, literature, paper, media, writer, self-publishing, e-Reader, writing news, tablet computer, iPad, e-book conversion,  … and most important: the title of your book and content words (tags) in various versions.

For even more exposure of your e-book photos (but only if the cover is really professionally designed and in high-resolution) join the FotoVotr.com Amber Group.

A free and easy way to show your e-book to the world!

P.S. The book cover image above is a (German) title that I wrote years ago and very successfully self-published and marketed. I will publish it as an e-book next month.

Book Covers are Marketing Tools

Book Cover

Book Cover

How important are covers in terms of selling a paper or an e-book?
Covers are the number one. Three aspects of a book make the greatest first impression on potential readers:

  • The cover
  • The title
  • The opening sentence

If the cover art does its job well, it will portray the tone and genre of the book accurately—and help it stand out from its competition on the bookshelf.  An interesting and compelling cover often means an interesting and compelling read.

Covers are very much the domain of marketing. They target major buyers as much as end-readers. It’s a fact that buyers for the chain stores will order more copies of a book they find visually appealing, so their opinion counts, even to the extent that publishers will entirely change a book’s cover if an influential buyer doesn’t like it.
