Thank you for this excellent resource! I’m confused about one thing though. Your article says “You are allowed to select five “free” promotional days within the 90-day KDP Select period into the Lending Library …” but the Amazon KDP FAQs say “note that on the days your book is offered for free, it will not be included in the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library”. So … do prime members get to borrow it for free on the free days? I thought that was the point but not I’m confused! Thank you if you can clarify.

Hi,
any book with an ISBN can be listed. If your publisher has not done it yet, he/she should familiarize themselves. A sign of un-professionalism… I would change the publisher, or self-publish.

Excellent article. On the few occasions when I mention Bowker to other authors, I usually receive that blank, deer-in-the-headlights stare–the same stare I received from a bookstore owner back in the early 1990′s, when I told her I’d never heard of “Books in Print.” Her response: “If your book isn’t in Books in Print, it doesn’t exist as far as I’m concerned.” She was correct; that’s just the way the industry–the big industry–works. I’ve now been a user of Bowker’s “Books in Print” for almost twenty years. It mostly adds a sense of validity and verifiability to one’s work, but it has for me, on several occasions, opened doors.

I have been using Pinterest for just over 6 months now, and only recently began to explore its possibilities for book marketing. Since I pinned some links/images relating to my books, they have been re-pinned several times by people I don’t know. That will very soon translate into positive sales I am sure!
